But in India it has a special place among the elite who simply love this car. No doubt there are other luxury cars like the Maybach and Porsche, but the Rolls Royce commands a unique place among the Indian rich, in particular the Maharajahs of India, who took to this car like nothing else matters.

This luxury car has been part of the Indian Maharajahs psyche much before India achieved independence. At that time owning a Rolls was a status symbol among the Rulers and Maharajahs of India. French Author Lapierre in his book ‘Freedom at Midnight’ brings out the fact that on an average an Indian Maharajah owned 3.5 Rolls Royce cars. The Maharajah of Patiala owned nearly 27 of these luxury cars. These cars followed him in a procession as well as transported his 10 wives. In fact when the Rolls Company once refused to give him a car as per his requirements, the Maharajah Bhupinder Singh started using the cars to carry garbage. This news reached the Viceroy and he intervened and requested the manufacturers to accede to the maharajas wish. Once the car as per the Maharajas specification were delivered, the carrying of garbage by these luxury cars of Bhupinder Sigh was also stopped.

Most of the Indian elite owned these cars. In the museum at Calcutta, the car belonging to Rabindranath Tagore is also kept, that brings to the knowledge of all and sundry, that philosopher poet who was a Nobel laureate also owned this model. The Maharajah of Kashmir also owned a gold plated car that moved about Srinagar when he was the ruler. The first car off the manufacturing line after the Second World War was bought by the Maharajah of Baroda.

Almost all Indian princes and Maharajahs kept Rolls Royce cars. The number of these luxury cars was a sign of the Maharajahs importance Over the decades the love for the Rolls Royce has not abated in India. Connoisseurs and people with taste who wish to make a mark in society still go in for such cars. In Mumbai there are very few of these luxury cars on the road, but those who own them stand head and shoulders above others. The fascination for the Rolls Royce in India goes on. It is a relationship that is likely to only grow and strengthen. This car on Indian roads is a sign of a connoisseur and man of taste. It is a statement of identity.

The popularity of auto brokers are growing more and more. People are looking for a better solution to purchasing their vehicles without the hassle and confrontational environment that exists in the car buying process today.

Simply put an auto broker, or auto consultant, manages and handles the process of buying a car for you. A broker will find the vehicle you want, negotiate the price, run history reports, get your vehicle safety inspected, secure financing if needed, and handle all the paper work involved with the process. Their job is to represent you and save you money and time in the car buying process. The majority of people are not even aware that using an auto broker is an option they have in the purchase of their vehicles. Here are several reasons and advantages for considering using an auto broker for your next vehicle purchase.Superior Treatment – Getting What You Really Want

Auto brokers make sure that their clients get superior treatment through-out the entire car buying process. A broker has their finger on the pulse of the auto industry and knows where to find the best deals for their clients. They can also get things done, within the industry, that may seem impossible to the average person, because of what and who they know. This can be a huge advantage if you ever need help in solving an issue with your vehicle.

Negotiations Of The Deal – Saving You Money

Due to the amount of volume that an auto broker does every month they have a network of auctions, car dealers and vendors where they can secure discounted pricing that they can pass on to their clients. Even with the broker’s fee factored in to the cost of the vehicle, you still end up saving money on your purchase. The same is true when they get you financing. I’ve seen where a broker actually got a client a better interest rate than what the client’s own bank had quoted them.

Convenience And Practicality – Saving You Time

Most people dread the idea of having to buy a car. An auto broker saves you the hassle and effort of having to car-hunt the dealerships lots and waste countless hours surfing the Internet in the pursuit of your vehicle. Because the broker is a professional the entire sales process is effortless and straightforward. They don’t play the “car buying” games.

Peace Of Mind – Buying With Trust

After using an auto broker, most people find that it is the first time they enjoyed and felt confident about their auto purchase. It’s nice to have an advocate and professional on your side when purchasing your vehicles. The fears and woes that plague most car buyers is something you no longer have to contend with when using a broker.

Anyone can use an auto broker. It use to be that brokers only worked with higher end luxury cars in the past. Today most of your brokers will work on locating any make or model vehicle that you may be looking for. Some brokers will even take your trade-in on your new car. Be sure to ask what services your broker offers before you agree to work with them.

Car TVs can make a long drive with the family more fun – these vehicle accessories can keep your kids from getting bored just sitting at the backseat staring out at long stretches of nothingness. These televisions meant for cars are quite easy to install and can be tackled without hassle by a regular do-it-yourself person.

Basically, there are there are different types of car TVs:

1. Headrest televisions
2. Overhead televisions
3. Dash televisions

As there are different types of these accessories, there are also various ways of installation procedures. These procedures of course depend on the type of the electronics involved. For headrest car TVs, you must start by removing the headrest from the seat. Measure the television’s mounting frame and basing on the measurement, race an outline of the mounting frame on the cushioning. You should also cut a hole for the frame’s cable. Put in the frame on its specific hole and keep it in place using cement glue. Put the television on the frame when the cement is dry and run the cable through the other hole. Car TVs mostly plug into a cigarette lighter adapter however you can also use a three-way cable that can connect to the car starter, a 12-volt source and to a good ground.

For overhead car TVs, you must first install a metal sheet in your vehicle’s ceiling where you can attach the overhead television to by screwing it in securely. Route the cables to the engine compartment if the set does not come with an adapter for the cigarette lighter.

For dash car TVs, be sure to have the battery cables unplugged from the car’s battery first. When doing this, you must remove the negative terminal first. Take out the car stereo. If your car comes with an anti-theft mount, you may need special tools to it into the holes to release the mounting clips on the front of the stereo. Put the TV into the dash in place of the stereo and secure the screws. Replace the trim panels before you reconnect the battery cables. For the antenna, it can be placed on the roof near the trunk or the door frame. The connecting cables must be secured to the side of the vehicle with cable ties or routed along the weather-stripping. Make use of RCA video cables to connect dash car TVs to tuners. A wiring harness for cars can be used to connect the TV to the radio antenna and stereo connectors.

Car TVs installation is the foundation of the rising technology. It is very significant to know about the nitty-gritty of the system installed in cars. With much of importance given to the design itself, there should be an emphasize on the technology used. Installation should be entirely enjoyed while driving or riding around the city, along long country roads, or nearly anywhere else.

Let’s say you want to construct a more powerful engine. The most direct method is to increase the amount of air and fuel burned in each combustion cycle by adding more engine cylinders or increasing the size of the cylinders. But that makes the engine bigger and heavier, which means you need a bigger car to haul it around.

Assuming you don’t want a bigger, heavier car, what else can you do? You can pack more air and fuel into the existing cylinders. This, in a nutshell, is what a turbocharger does.

Some people think that turbos are only good for sports cars or racing. But there is more to a turbocharger than sheer horsepower and speed. In fact, the best reason for turbocharging the engine is to enhance your driving experience. How Does a Turbocharger Work?

The turbocharger compresses the air entering the engine cylinders, which greatly increases the engine’s burning power. A turbocharger can typically pack 50% more air into the cylinders than normal. Due to inefficiencies in the process, not all of this air will translate into extra power. The actual improvement would be along the lines of 30-40% more power.

A turbocharger in a car is attached to the exhaust manifold and is powered by waste exhaust gases. The turbo has two main components, the turbine and the compressor. Exhaust coming from the engine cylinders passes through the turbine blades, causing the turbine wheel to spin.

The turbine connects to the compressor by a long shaft. As the turbine wheel rotates, it makes the compressor wheel spin, too. The compressor draws in air, pressurising it in the intake before pumping the air into the engine cylinders. The amount of pressure that the air is subjected to is called boost. The more the air is compressed, the higher the boost and the more extra power that is generated by the engine.

There are two other components that should be built into an efficient turbocharging system: the wastegate and the intercooler.

At high engine speeds, the turbine can spin too quickly and generate more boost than the system is designed to handle, especially if the turbocharger is small. The wastegate is a simple valve that senses the boost pressure. When the pressure reaches the desired level, the wastegate lets some of the exhaust gases bypass the turbine, limiting boost to safe amounts.

When air is compressed, it heats up, causing it to expand and become less dense. This partly defeats the purpose of turbocharging, which is to increase the density of the air going into the engine cylinders. To counteract the expansion effect, a cooling component such as an intercooler or charge air cooler is used. The intercooler lowers the temperature of the pressurised air before it enters the cylinders and mixes with the fuel.

One of the drawbacks of turbocharged engines is turbo lag. This is the delay between pushing down the accelerator and feeling the boost of power from the turbo. It occurs because the turbine takes a little time to get up to speed. Turbo lag can be decreased by reducing the size of the turbocharger and using lighter materials such as ceramic instead of steel in the turbine and compressor.

A small, light turbo can provide quicker boost and minimise lag, but it may not generate enough boost at high engine speeds. On the other hand, a large turbocharger will deliver massive boost at high speeds, but it will suffer from more lag because it has a heavier turbine wheel that takes longer to get moving.

Sometimes two turbos of different sizes are installed to overcome the drawbacks of both small and large turbochargers. In a twin turbo system, the smaller one gets up to speed quickly for less lag during driving, while the larger one provides the extra boost needed at higher engine speeds. This system is efficient in delivering power under all driving conditions, but it has the disadvantage of being much more complex than a single turbo, with two sets of everything that can potentially break down.

Benefits of a Turbocharger

The main benefits of a turbocharger are increased horsepower and torque, lower fuel costs, improved emissions, and better high altitude performance.

A turbocharged engine produces substantially more power than a non-turbo engine, with only a small weight increase. To look at it another way, you can put a smaller engine in the car and still obtain power equivalent to a larger, normally aspirated engine. The additional horsepower and torque enhance vehicle performance and drivability.

It’s worth pointing out that remapping a turbocharged engine is one of the best ways to fully optimise all that power and torque. A professional ECU remap gives you sharper throttle response and smoother power delivery through the entire rev range, making driving even more of a pleasure.

A turbocharger can also help you save money on fuel costs. Diesel fuel isn’t that much less expensive than petrol, but when you improve fuel economy with a turbocharger, you can obtain big fuel savings over a normally aspirated diesel or petrol engine.

A turbocharger offers environmental benefits, too. It delivers extra oxygen to the engine, which results in more complete fuel combustion and reduced NOx and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, a turbocharged engine can be built smaller and lighter than a non-turbo engine, which means that it consumes less fuel and puts out lower overall emissions while generating the same amount of power.

And finally, at high altitudes where the air is less dense, a turbocharged engine delivers more power and better performance than a normally aspirated engine can offer.

Precautions for Operating a Turbocharged Car

Oil system and air system problems are two major reasons for turbocharger failure. You should check the oil and air filters regularly and perform engine maintenance at the prescribed intervals. It’s also important to pay attention to engine start up and shut down procedures. This simply means allowing the turbocharger to warm up and cool down properly.

When you start the engine, let it idle for about one minute. Don’t rev the engine right away, as this forces the turbocharger to run at high speed with minimal lubrication. And before you turn off your engine, let it idle for one to five minutes to give the turbocharger time to cool down. A hot shut down the moment you arrive at your destination is hard on the turbo. Neglecting either of these steps can result in a shortened service life or big repair bills for your turbocharger.

Other than oil changes and regular maintenance, a very important component of the life of a vehicle lies in the health of the front and rear suspension. It is easy to forget about these parts of the vehicle, but it can be seriously detrimental and cost quite a bit for auto repair. When the steering wheel is turned, the front suspension pivots on the suspension strut bearing at the top of the suspension and on the ball joint at the bottom of the suspension. The most common style of strut is a larger shock absorber that contains an integral coil spring as part of its assembly. Since front wheel drive vehicles will have many components in a small space, the strut was designed to help with space limitation and reduce the overall weight of the components. The strut eliminates the need for an upper control arm by acting as the connection between the steering knuckle and the upper body of the car.

The front suspension strut serves as the shock absorber in many vehicles today. They move to compensate as a vehicle is driven over rough or uneven road surfaces. A vehicle with strut-style suspension has a suspension strut assembly at each wheel, which needs to be replaced if the strut leaks oil or no longer has a dampening effect. The rear suspension also works to absorb shock at the rear of the vehicle. Some struts contain electronic components that automatically adjust the suspension dampening as needed. Others incorporate an air bladder to create air struts, which are used for a more enhanced ride with additional load carrying capabilities. These struts sometimes have an external air bag bladder that replaces the coil spring. When replacing the suspension strut bearing, the wheel is removed. The front suspension assembly is removed from the vehicle and disassembled. Then the suspension needs to be reassembled and installed. The vehicle’s stability relies on both suspension struts replacements’ at the same time to prevent inconsistencies with suspension and ensure efficiency.

Struts are simple, compact, and easily serviced with regular routine maintenance. Without maintaining the suspension of a vehicle, a visit to the auto mechanic will be unavoidable. The vehicle won’t be able to absorb shock and will make your ride bumpy and uncomfortable, and could lead to a serious accident. Taking care of the car ensures that you are taken care of as well.

The radiator’s job is to keep the vehicle cool while the engine is running and the pistons are pumping. Should the radiator overheat or leak, the vehicle can smoke and sputter and will not run efficiently. This is important because regular car radiator repair and maintenance can prevent any serious problems from occurring. Here is how the radiator works. The radiator directs the heat away from the engine, which can prevent it from cracking. The radiator also has passages connected to fins, which keep heat away from the coolant and bypass the heat from the engine compartment. Hot coolant travels through the radiator and becomes cool, returning to the engine considerably less hot by utilizing heat transfer.

All components of the cooling system need to be kept in good working order for the process to work best at cooling the vehicle. This is important because there are many components to the cooling system such as: Gaskets, hoses, clamps, fans, water pumps, radiator, and coolant, which needs to be checked and maintained. If one part of the system is broken or not working, the engine could crack or melt and become severely damaged or nonfunctional. Checking the coolant regularly will signify if the system is working properly. Only check coolant levels when the engine is off and cold, using a level surface and looking into the filter by removing the radiator cap. If the vehicle is not cold when the coolant level is checked, hot liquid can fly out and burn anyone standing nearby. This can be performed at home, or with the help of a trusted auto mechanic. There are tell tale signs to look for if the If the coolant level is too low or has overflowed. Seepage and bad hoses that look swollen or porous are evidence of this. Replace bad hoses immediately and check the heater hoses as well because if the system is leaking, the right pressure will not sustain coolant circulation. Make sure to also check for signs of crustiness on the hoses as well to ensure proper function of the coolant system.

Flushing the coolant regularly according to the vehicle’s specific recommendations is key to a healthy radiator. Old coolant becomes corrosive and can damage or destroy the entire radiator, causing it to replaced. If the radiator is neglected for too long and regular maintenance is not upheld, the engine will then overheat and get very hot. This can cause severe damage and require an expensive emergency trip to the auto mechanic and possibly a new engine.

Instead it is much more fun just to think about their new-found independence, being able to drive around to your mate’s house and get out of the way of your folks. But, as with all things, there are many advantages to understanding some of the fundamental workings of a car. Even some very basic knowledge can help you to look after the vehicle better, preserving its life, increasing its efficiency and also, most importantly, making it safer.

Every three or four weeks you should do some basic maintenance checks stop top of this list is making sure your engine has enough about oil. But oil is sucked from the oil pan and pumped through a filter. Filter removes dirt and other contaminants from the oil before the pressure is read by the engine oil pressure sensor. Oil pressure is critical to making the oil system work. If you see the oil pressure warning light come on it has probably been caused by a lack of engine oil. At least you should hope so, as this is the cheapest problem to fix. And the problem must be fixed. Never leave it until later, it can permanently destroy engine.A few thousand miles you will need to change your engine oil. A good way of doing this, on the cheap, is to buy an oil extractor. This means you do not have to get under the car and drain the oil sump. This is ideal if you are not really interested in the mechanics of your vehicle but still want to save a few dollars.

The best thing you can do as a new motorist is not be afraid to ask for help or advice if you’re unsure about something, everybody has to learn some point.

This tip is so simple; you can implement it immediately and start seeing results you want! But it doesn’t stop there. You can actually take this a step further and increase your understanding using another simple technique. The problem is, I don’t have the space here to share it. It is, however, on my website.

An extended car warranty could be defined as a type of insurance policy. Where as an initial car warranty will be provided by the manufacturer, an extended car warranty can be offered through a separate insurer. If you find yourself having problems with your car due to mechanical or electrical failure this form of warranty can cover, or help contribute, to the costs of any repairs or parts replacement. An extended car warranty offers peace of mind for the consumer by simply extending the length of time he can expect sufficient coverage offered after the manufacturer’s warranty. There are some issues to consider before looking for the right type of extended car warranties.

Many companies will offer a certain service package but this may not include complete “bumper to bumper” coverage. Some plans offered will only provide coverage under severe mechanical or electrical motoring failures. The customer needs to examine the details when taking out one of these policies. Then the best deal can found. Some companies selling these packages will simply resell other company’s packages. This can mean they do not have a full understanding of the extended warranty they are actually offering. It makes more sense to speak to a company directly offering the warranty deal you are considering.

Many of the extended car warranties that are available on the market are referred to as exclusionary plans. This is because it’s less time consuming to mention what is not covered under the plan rather than what is covered. With this type of plan you know you are receiving a comprehensive package with a high level of coverage. You should be wary of partial plans that list only what is actually covered under the scheme.

Parts and labour costs are often not included under extended warranty plans. You may have to end up paying for the man-hours a mechanic takes to fix your car. These costs can accumulate very quickly. Whilst your vehicle is being repaired you may need a hire a car to get on and about. Check if that is covered under your policy.

When considering one of these policies choose the company carefully. Are they financially sound? Can they provide the cover they claim they can? What about customer service? Companies operating in this field should be properly registered and licensed to offer these services.

So, there are a number of issues to consider before purchasing an extended car warranty. Is it worth it when thinking about the car’s value and the costs to fix the vehicle? How likely do you think it is that your car will actually break down? Possibly your car is too old. If you think an extended warranty is suitable for you it can actually save you a great deal of money.

They provide a cushion to the wheel and keep it close to the ground. Tires are used in trucks, cars, bicycles, aircrafts, etc and fit around a wheel rim which enables great performance. Well, tires come at a cost too.

In our economy where we are trying to reduce expenses and save money, we do spend a lot on traveling. I was traveling recently and the tire of my motorbike had to be replaced as it was torn. I went to buy a new tire and it was quite an expense which made me wonder – Why not get used tires? I got a used tire in a very good condition and at a lower price. I think there is a lot of benefit in getting used tires. It is cost effective. A good look at used tires, one can analyze if they would be safe on the road. The right alignment and balance increases the durability of used tires. There are consumers who change their vehicles tire even if it is in a good condition to get a new set which boasts of the latest trend, many tires are used in demo cars. Thus, we can get good used tires at ease.If you own a vehicle, there are a lot of costs which one needs to keep in mind. The fuel prices are soaring, to replace spare parts one has to pay a monumental price. Used tires ease the pressure on your wallet. You get what you want and you can get them easily. Most of the used tires have not even lost their tread, why not use them. It is a great buy!

The other benefit of used tires is that you reduce a lot of environmental pollution. Imagine if tires that can be used are not used, we would have a heap of rubber which is non-degradable. It helps cut down a lot of waste. You are protecting the earth.

One can buy tires online as well. You can do that successfully if you are sure of the specifications and the necessary measurements. You get a wide variety of used tires online and if you do not want to go to a store and benefit from a variety of offers and deals, you can do that right from your computer. There are plenty of websites and it is not about cheaply made tires, it is about cheap and affordable tires. You can choose your trusted brand for used tires as well. A little research and you shall get good results. If you are not an online person, you can always walk-in to a tire shop and ask them to show you used tires. You can examine them, check for signs of wear and tear, and the tread of the tires before you purchase them.

Mount the used tires on the wheel. Take care of the tire and the tire will take care of you.

To look at the history of the Hummer we have to look to its military beginnings to get the complete story. That is right it did not start out just being a car but an HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) with 4-wheel drive for the military. This vehicle was nicknamed the Humvee. It was developed by the AM General Company. Later after the military using it the Hummer vehicle for consumer use came out. This history will look at both the military and the consumer versions.

The U.S. Army discovered, during the 1970s, it needed more than civilian trucks converted for military use. By 1979, the Army had drawn up specifications for a HMMWV. In July, 1979 AM General (owned by American Motors Coporation) started to work on a preliminary design, had its first prototype in less than one year, the M998 and began testing. By 1980 more than 500 vehicles were produced which included other models too.The Army, in June of 1981 awarded a contract to AM General to develop some more prototypes for delivery to the government of the United States for testing, which led to the company getting a production contract for the initial 55,000 HMMWVs for delivery in 1985. There was more testing done on these and finally in 1989 the HMMWVs finally saw combat in the United States’ invasion of the country of Panama in the Operation Just Cause.

This vehicle quickly became the backbone, vehicle wise that is, for the United States’ forces throughout the world. During the Operation Iraqi Freedom more than 10,000 of them were used by the coalition forces, in the invasion of Iraq in 2003. In 2004 though, the HMMWVs came under criticism for not having enough armor to provide soldiers with enough protection (found out in Iraq invasion) for guerilla warfare. Now the U.S military is in the process of replacing the HMMWVs.

Hummer

In 1992 though, AM General started selling the first of the commercial M998s for consumers calling the brand Hummer. General Motors (GM) then took over the Hummer brand in 1998 and called its first models H1 and later on the H1 Alpha. In 2003, AM General and GM collaborated to make the Hummer H2 which had improved road ability. AM General still performed the final assembly. This model had a 6.0-liter GM V-8 engine and a Chevy Tahoe modified chassis among other features.

In 2006 a cheaper, lighter and smaller Hummer the H3 came out. GM manufactured the H3 in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Hummers were export to 33 countries around the world. Then in 2008 trouble hit because the U.S. fuel prices soared. The Hummer being a fuel guzzler was put under review to see if the franchise was going to be canceled or if it would be sold.

A deal was in negotiations in 2009 with the Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery, a Chinese company, but when funding could not be found by the company to purchase the Hummer brand, the deal fell through. The Chinese government would not approve it either, because of its own reputation for the company being a top polluter and leading consumer of natural resources.

GM, in April 2010, offered large rebates to help the remaining Hummers to be sold. Also GM told the dealers to close up their franchises. The Hummers just became a bad investment and failed for that reason in civilian use. Over 355,000 Hummers were sold to the general consumer though.
